Tomoko Kawauchi Design Director
After gaining a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Shiga Prefecture in Japan, Tomoko came to the UK to study for a National Diploma in Horticulture at Writtle College, Essex in 2005. She worked as a Project Designer with Charlotte Rowe Garden Design from 2006 while also studying for a National Certificate in Planting Design at Capel Manor College. After over seven years with CRGD, she spent four years working as a designer at another prestigious London studio, before returning to Charlotte Rowe Garden Design as Design Director in June 2018. Tomoko has been involved in a wide range of projects throughout the UK and overseas, including public spaces and RHS show gardens, as well as private projects. Her varied design background brings a wealth of experience to the studio.

Sophie Bertrand Senior Project Designer
After completing a degree in architecture, Sophie studied at the National School of Landscape in Versailles where she gained her Masters in Landscape Architecture. She worked for SLG Paysage in Paris, where she was involved in a wide spectrum of projects including public and community sector work and urban planting, before joining Charlotte Rowe and her team in spring 2016. She designed and completed the garden ‘Derrière l’Armoire’ at the International Garden Festival of Chaumont-sur-Loire in 2013.

Louise Sugrue Office Manager
After careers in the teaching and charity sectors, Louise’s love of words led her to train as a journalist and then work for various leading women’s magazines and home titles. But after signing up for an allotment plot in 2011, she caught the horticultural bug and worked as a volunteer at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and at Fulham Palace garden. Since January 2016 she has been able to combine her passion for all things green with her administrative skills as office manager looking after the design team at Charlotte Rowe Garden Design.
