Contemporary Landscape in Ascot

Charlotte Rowe Garden was commissioned to design a landscape for a new house being built on a difficult wedge-shaped site of around two acres near Ascot. The new build house is classic, contemporary in style with a large pool and gym building to the rear and the garden needs to sit neatly around the house, the pool house and the existing garage block. The land to the North East is open but has to be viewed across the stable block so some screening was needed. The site is off quite a noisy road with neighbouring properties on both sides so some screening was also necessary on those sides.

One of the key features of the design is a large contemporary style lake and group of formal trees which is bridged by the entrance drive. The land around this has been left more or less as open grass. Behind the house is a formal garden in the contemporary style with a large terrace with two rows of box pleached hornbeams leading the eye out into the landscape and three large grid planting beds with grasses. Beyond are rows of low planting beds of Santolina, Buxus and lavender. To the East is a large deck off the pool block bordered by planting and towards the end of the garden is an avenue of lime trees planted in meadow grass. There is a children’s garden and a small vegetable garden.

This project is under development.
